Overview

TBA prepares men who are called to the pastoral ministry to preach the Scriptures expositionally and integrate biblical principles into their ministries. We equip all of our students with a thorough understanding of God’s word so that they can serve faithfully and effectively in their churches.  A relationship to a growing church, Emanuel Baptist Church , provides the men many opportunities for discipleship and personal preparation for local church ministry.

Brief History

After years of Communist rule and theological liberalism, plus the dominant religious influence of the Roman Catholic Church, the evangelical church is struggling to gain strength. In 1997, 12 Croatian churches, representing the conservative wing of the Baptist Union, formed an association to sponsor a program that would provide conservative biblical and pastoral training for the countries of the former Yugoslavia. Full-time classes in Krapina, Croatia, began in the fall of 2000. Several other locations in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina now offer extension classes. (For a more detailed history, go to The History of TBA.)

Requirements and Expenses

TBA serves more than thirty full and part-time students in all of their various programs. Men who want to enrich their skills and knowledge in Expository Preaching are welcome to attend any of our seminars that are part of the Expositor’s Institute.  Anyone who wants to enrich their understanding of a particular subject is welcomed to audit one of our full-time classes.  Students who would like to enroll in our full-time program must have a four year high school degree, provide a recommendation from their pastor as well as fulfill other entrance requirements.  Cases of students who do not have a four year high school degree but who have a strong recommendation from their local church leadership and a proven desire to serve in the church will be considered by the admissions committee.

There is no charge for the classes taught at TBA, however students are responsible for their own living expenses.  Most live in rented rooms and apartments in Krapina.  There is a men’s dorm available for 500 Hrk (about $85) a month and a meal plan for breakfast and lunch for class days for 400 HrK (about $60).  Students who demonstrate proven ministry abilities, who believe they are called to the pastoral ministry and have a genuine need may be eligible for a stipend.
