Overview

History
Ministerios Evangelicos de las Americas (MEDA), or the Evangelical Ministries of the Americas, was established in 1998 and became a member of The Master’s Academies International (TMAI) in 2005.  MEDA receives and trains pastors from all evangelical denominations in Honduras and a growing number of other Central American countries. Currently, more than 100 churches send men for training at MEDA. MEDA's purpose is to give pastors and church leaders the tools necessary to faithfully feed and lead the flock of God.

Training
To accomplish this objective, MEDA offers two training programs. The first is a series of conferences offered through out the calendar year.  These conferences generally last two and a half days and consist of 12 hours of intense study, so as not to cause a considerable disruption to an already busy ministry schedule.  While in class, pastors stay in dorm rooms on the training center grounds.  The conference structure precludes the need for pastors to leave their churches to receive training.  Carlos Montoya and Adrian Donato, who are sent to Honduras by Community Bible Church of Vallejo and and function as MEDA's full-time seminary professors, provide instruction, along with special speakers from other seminaries and local churches.  For many, this is the only formal and reliable theological training received.

The second program is the MEDA Seminary for Expository Preaching.  It offers a more intense level of education to those who desire to further develop their skills in precisely interpreting, explaining, and applying the Biblical text.  These classes meet on a module basis for two weeks at a time every five weeks throughout the year.  The two weeks consist of 55 hours of actual instruction for accreditation purposes.  MEDA believes that Expository Preaching is not a method of preaching, but a mandate for precision; hence it reflects that in its curriculum.  The core curriculum consists of courses such as Spanish Grammar and Observation (i.e., Diagrammatical Analysis), Hermeneutics, Expository Preaching, Greek Grammar, Hebrew Grammar, Greek Exegesis, Hebrew Exegesis, Exegesis of NT books, Exegesis of OT books, Biblical Introduction, and selected courses in Practical and Systematic theology.  This is a four year module program that allows the pastor to receive solid training in Biblical Exegesis and yet not have to leave his local church.

Since its inception, MEDA attendance has increased every year. In 2005, MEDA ministered to 1400 different pastors and ley leaders through its 23 conferences and it ministered to 30 men at the Seminary level.

The attraction of MEDA is its reputation for quality instruction and a focus on the essentials for preaching the point of each passage.  Repeatedly, the men express that there is nothing like MEDA in all of Central America .  The ministry truly is unique in its design and emphasis.

Expenses
Nearly all pastors who attend MEDA must work full or part-time in order to support their families. Even though each onference and each seminary course costs only $10, for many even this amount presents a significant challenge. Therefore, MEDA heavily subsidizes expenses of each conference and seminary course.
