[Cast] all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
— 1 Peter 5:7 —

There are real anxieties in the lives of Christians, and their anxieties are many. Believers are not immune to pain, stress, uncertainties, and heartaches. Yet, God is there. His presence and provision in times of trouble are real. But Christians must avail themselves of the solution God provides to relieve our anxieties—casting them upon the Lord. How do you cast your anxieties on God? First, recognize the presence of anxiety. You must cast all anxieties—big and small; deep and momentary; anxieties about your past, present, and future—on Christ! You should grab and own your anxiety. Behind most of your (and everyone’s) anxieties, there is a specific thought or perspective that must be identified. You should investigate your concerns or fears, noting what thought patterns or beliefs you follow that give rise to fears or worry. Second, remind yourself who God is. Your little heart needs big thoughts about God. Speak the truth about God to your heart. Remember that God is in control. He has a mighty hand. He is near and able. He does care. He knows the when, how, and why of every anxiety. Meditating often on God will help melt away your anxieties. Third, resort to prayer. God is near; talk to Him. Let your heart cry, “Abba, Father!” Pour your heart out before Him. Turn to Him like a child who runs to his father when hurt, uncertain, or afraid. Note, you must cast all anxieties—big and small; deep and momentary; anxieties about your past, present, and future—on Christ! Do not hide them or ignore them, nor try carrying them on your own or dumping them on other people. In casting your anxieties on Him, there is true peace and healing for your soul.
