KEY DETAILS ON SEMINARY FOR EXPOSITORY PREACHING

About

  • The Seminary for Expository Preaching (SEPEHN) exists to produce Christ-centered expositors who plant and pastor churches locally and globally.

  • The SEPE Distinctives are:

    • The Exaltation Of Christ: We are committed to the exaltation of Christ in preaching and life! Everything we do must serve the purpose of exalting Christ, our sovereign Lord and Savior. The glory of God in Christ is the central theme of Scripture. He is our all in all! It is our desire that SEPE graduates continue to passionately exalt the Lord Jesus Christ more and more.

    • The Sufficiency Of God's Word: We are committed to the sufficiency of God's Word! God has revealed Himself to us in written form, letting us know who He is, His redemptive work, and our future hope in Christ. We believe that God's Word is innately powerful to change our lives and conform us to the image of Christ by His Spirit. SEPE graduates will remain fully committed to the sufficiency of God's Word, and it will govern their lives in all things.

    • The Priority Of The Local Church: We are committed to the priority of the local church! God is working through His people, the church, using it to exalt Him, perfect His redeemed saints, and evangelize the lost. As an expression of their love for Christ, SEPE graduates will continue to grow in their love for the local church. SEPE graduates will serve as instruments of Christ, preaching Him for the sanctification of the Body and the justification of the lost.

    • Ongoing Discipleship: We are committed to the ongoing discipleship of every student and graduate! Our desire is that SEPE students and graduates will increasingly reflect the character of Christ and be fully surrendered to their Lord in the life and ministry to which He has called them.

  • Through its proprietary and standardized Master of Divinity (M.Div.) curriculum, SEPE provides:

    • Intensive instruction in the original biblical languages through the Old and New Testament Academic Departments.

    • Rigorous exegetical practice aimed at preaching the main point of the text through the Expository Preaching Academic Department.

    • Comprehensive pastoral formation through the Pastoral Ministry Academic Department.

    • Systematic theological training with clear and practical pastoral implications through the Systematic Theology Academic Department.

    • Hands-on, personalized mentoring through the Discipleship Program.

    • All courses are delivered in a hybrid format utilizing a flipped classroom methodology in which personal pastoral insight and experiences that students bring with them to the program are leveraged for the mutual strengthening of all course participants.

Training

  • SEPE offers a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree program with emphasis in expository preaching. For students who do not hold a bachelor’s degree upon program completion, SEPE offers equivalency in the form of a bachelor’s in divinity with emphasis in expository preaching or a diploma in divinity with emphasis in expository preaching.

  • With locations across Latin America and the Caribbean, SEPE became a flagship seminary of TMAI early in its formation. Over the past 24 years, it has grown into a collaborative training ecosystem offering M.Div. education to Spanish-speaking pastors. SEPE partners closely with local churches and U.S.-based mentor churches to support church revitalization, church planting, and pastoral internships. SEPE continues to impact pastors globally through its regional campuses and its expansive online presence. SEPE Honduras has graduated 151 students from 9 countries.

  • Through church planting and church revitalization efforts of each SEPE graduate, the LORD Jesus Christ is magnified by the spiritual transformation of individuals, families, and communities who live joyfully to glorify God through a total commitment to the Son throughout the world.

Through SEPE’s church planting arm called SEPE Missionary (SEPEMisionero), SEPE will continue supporting SEPE Honduras graduates logistically and financially through their local churches in alignment to their church’s vision of church planting. For some graduates, they launch out to plant a new church, for others, they stay and train up a man and send him out to plant their next church, but in it all, churches send out SEPE graduates to plant churches, the SEPE seminary does not plant churches; churches plant churches. It is SEPE’s goal that 100% of its graduates are actively engaged in church planting and/or church revitalization. Please request our SEPE Impact Report 2025 for a full report on SEPE’s goals and strategic impact.

    Stats from CIA.gov

  • Formerly a colony of Spain’s vast New World empire, Honduras gained its independence as a nation in 1821. Although ruled by military might for several decades, a civilian government was freely elected in 1982. The nation aided the neighboring Salvadorian government in conflict with leftist guerrillas during the 1980’s and became a refuge for Nicaraguan contras. Honduras suffered a devastating economic setback in 1998 when Hurricane Mitch struck, killing over 5,600 people. The economy has recovered slowly until the present day, but poverty and organized crime persist. Honduras once had a strong Catholic population, but the numbers of practicing Catholics is declining. Evangelicalism is growing rapidly but splintered by denominational divides.

Mountains of Ministry: The Journey of a Pastor in Guatemala

SEPE has been teaching and equipping men across the whole of Central America. One training center for seven countries means that men travel for hours, even days, to be taught. All do this for the sake of their own local churches scattered around the continent to better know, love, and serve Christ.
